He loved to sail aboard his yacht “Encore” out of Dana Point, Calif., where he and Opal lived aboard for seven years. Other hobbies were reading, computers and photography. Darrel loved and served our Lord Jesus. He was an active member of the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church for many years. He lovingly served as elder, Bible class leader and on many committees. A good person and dear cousin of mine gone to the Lord . . . just one more reason that I look forward to my time in Heaven.

Darrel's mother is my cousin and I've always been interested in hearing about Darrel and the many things he accomplished in his life.

He never was afraid to try something new; but remained faithful to God and his family.

Our sympathy to all the family of Darrel. Bill & Kent built our house, next to them in Groton, SD. We met all their family being neighbors. They will always stand out as one of the best families we have ever known. Our love & prayers to all of you, Penny & Bob Van Kempen

We will dearly miss Darrel. I, Esther, was not only his Godmother, but he also was our ringbearer 60 years ago.
