Maestas, Eleanor
Eleanor Maestas, 90, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on July 13, 2016.
Eleanor was born in Chimayo, New Mexico, to Canuto and Celia Trujillo-Jacques.
She is survived by her three children, Consuelo Pagliocco, David Maestas (Barbara), Theresa Allmon (Stuart); four grandchildren, Darren Maestas, Renee Garcia, Anthony Pagliocco and Maegan Cadena; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and three sisters, Carlotta Ortiz, Lita Price and Priscilla Alire. She is also survived by a beloved cousin, Isabelle Maestas, and treasured friends, Tita Maestas and Josie Bunch. She will be greatly missed by numerous relatives, friends and all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joe A. Maestas; daughter, Juanita Maestas; son, Clyde Maestas; son-in-law, Angelo Pagliocco; mother and father-in-law, Francesquita and Gorgonio Maestas, and her sisters, Aurela Fresquez and Fabiola Borrego.
Eleanor was a devoted member of the Holy Family Society at St. John the Baptist Church in San Juan Pueblo, New Mexico. Eleanor lived her life as a vibrant spirit with an infectious laugh! Everybody that knew her can recall one or two funny stories of how her sense of humor could take you out of the darkness and see sunlight again.
Her love of God and her family were paramount and that's how she lived her life. Eleanor was married to her beloved Joe for over 52 years. Together they raised a family, were successful business owners, worked hard and enjoyed life to the fullest. Eleanor loved to travel and in her younger years enjoyed beach vacations to Miami and Acapulco.
Her passions included cooking and baking. Her recipes live on with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening and canning fruits and vegetables for her family to enjoy throughout the year.
Eleanor was a generous soul to those in need, always more than willing to help out the best she could. She valued the friendships she made early in her life as treasured jewels. The friendships she made throughout her life added to the already gem encrusted wreath she carried in her heart. She touched many people and we will carry her heart in our hearts forever.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Life Spire Assisted Living and to Heritage Hospice.
