Pawnee Furra Obituary

Furra, Pawnee Exa

Pawnee Exa Furra passed away July 22, 2017.

Pawnee, Marnie to the family, was a unique and delightful combination of personality and interests. She was a child of nature who loved critters, skies & growing beautiful flowers. She was never happier or more at home that atop a horse, or with her dog Zero. Gifted creativity was evident in every area of her life; from artwork, jewelry design, culinary skills, interior designs. Pawnee was a gifted seamstress & was designing & creating a line of clothing for the convalescing & Alzheimer patients.

Pawnee had a strong and beautiful spiritual self. She attended the Rio Grande Center for Spiritual Life and strove to ever strengthen her connection to God and to others.

Those of us that had the privilege to know Pawnee, will miss her spirit, her creativity, her wit, her intellect, her quirky style and charm. But what we will miss most is her love and concern for each of us.

Not sure what to say?

Here we are almost six years later and I still miss her like it was yesterday. I can feel her near me and she has sent me some wonderful signs. I just still miss her so much.

We still have a painted fairy rock from Pawnee's fairy party in ABQ. She was a kind, beautiful soul and the world is a bit dimmer without her. We will see you again one day. Love, Arthur & Mark

I know I am late to the news, but I woke up this morning with an odd feeling I needed to look Pawnee up. This is not what I was hoping to find and not a great way to start the day....I'm her first husband Grant and although we parted ways many years ago I have always cared for her and her mom Daphene who I'm also sad to hear has passed.
We had a lot of adventures in the late 90s and early 2000s and I learned a lot about life, giving, and myself durning that time.
I wish I knew what happened to take her at a young age, afraid it's not good since everyone is being so polite...
Lana, if you see this I hope you're ok. Miss you all including Spark Plug and Runway.

Pawnee was a beautiful presence in my life and a grace to my home. Colin and I are so saddened to learn of her loss to this world. I had had no response to my emails and letters for quite awhile and I had no one whom I could contact. Could one of you get in touch with me? Another NC friend, Janet, and I are waiting to hear from you. We need to know about her last months. [email protected]. Or call 828-777-4895. Please let us hear from you. Nancy D.

Just now getting my returned Christmas card. I knew something was wrong but didn't know whom to call. Everything that Don Priola writes is spot on in remembrance of Pawnee. She was such a good friend that brought a reality check to everyone she met. I was her NC friend during the move she and her mom made here briefly. I bought her wind-up toy collection in the downsizing move and will treasure it as I get lost, like she did, in the innocent thrill of watching those crazy critter antics as long as the spring unwinds. Miss you lots. I do know you were not afraid of new adventures of which your parting is one. Come to me in a vision and tell me you're ok.

Pawnee reconnected with me May 25, 2017. I was thrilled! We both chatted, shared info pics and vowed to never loose contact again. Puzzled that I didn't hear back from Pawnee after July 20th I worried and wondered what happened. Im still not totally sure what happened but I now understand she has gone home. I am eternally thankful for the two months of rekindled friendship. I love you Pawnee.. What a beautiful soul you are.. So beautiful creative and your always growing knowledge, your style, humor, oh and your voice, I will miss hearing your voice. Your an inspiration to me your friends well everyone, both people and critters that were blessed by your presence.
Till we meet again, much love £>

Marnie loved many things.

She loved and appreciated things you might not notice, like a small flower on the side of the road, or interesting cloud formations. Once, she spent 10 minutes admiring a toad calmly sitting on her back porch. When she walked into her home, she would always say I love you, Home. When in the car, she often said, I love you, air conditioning. She would point out different kinds of fencing on the side of the road, or yell Equine Alert! when she saw a horse.

Marnie loved fashion. She made her own skirts, and put herself together impeccably. You might notice her vintage glasses (she had many pairs) with light tinted lenses, or her dense, curly hair. She loved her sassy cowboy boots, or fashionable shoes. If you're going to spend money on anything, spend it on shoes, she'd say. And her house, as stylish as she, always smelled of the oils she loved. And as mentioned in her obituary, she was designing a line of convalescent clothing for people recovering from surgery, among other things. And as typically Marnie, she wanted the line of clothing to be fashionable.

Marnie loved food. Her kitchen was like an artist's studio; she had every pan, mixer and tool you could imagine. She could cook a meal of whatever was left in the fridge and it was always healthy, and delicious. And Marnie could describe all the nutritional value of every meal she made. She was hilariously picky about where she ate, too. She once called a restaurant to specifically ask if their hash browns were crispy.

She loved music, and art. At all times in her house, you would hear music. She would play her extensive collection on random, and you'd hear everything from Patsy Cline to The Fall, Neko Case to Siouxsie and the Banshees, and of course, her beloved Nick Cave. No song ever repeated. She would listen to podcasts at night to fall asleep, their inspiration filling her dreams. She adored all kinds of art, from film to painting. She especially loved Frida Kahlo. And she made art of all kinds, including drawing, jewelry, and even upside down metal bats that decorated her porch. All of her work showed care, taste, and attention to detail. Marnie loved books, and read constantly. She also loved being read to, especially in the evenings. She was a talented writer, and if she sent you a postcard, she wrote something inspirational and personal, in her gorgeous black handwriting.

Marnie loved animals. She talked about her dogs all of the time. She had particular affection for her dog Zero, who she called The most perfect dog of all time. Marnie also owned a dog called Sparkplug, who she took to hospitals to comfort children. She watched over her neighbors' and friends' dogs all of the time. Horses were perhaps her greatest love. In her last couple of months, she rode a horse into a wide open canyon while the sun set, and she said it was one of her favorite experiences. I forget everything else when I ride a horse, she said.

Most importantly, Marnie loved her friends and her family; she mentioned them every day. She valued all people, and even strangers would remember her, months later. Talk to anyone she knew, and they would tell you how much they enjoyed her humor, wit, style, and sharp intelligence. She truly cared about everyone she met, and they cared for her.

I loved Marnie. We were a couple (going steady as we called it) in her last two months. We began to fall in love easily and naturally, and I will never forget our short time together. To quote a movie we watched on one of our last days: To me, she will always be a singular, unforgettable event.

Marnie, I love you, and always will.

Marnie was one of my dearest friends. We met in 1984. I spoke to her just a few weeks ago about my wedding. We were going to catch up this week. I'm beside myself. She helped me so much when my mother passed away. I love you Marnie. I loved your mother as well. Now you're together. Can someone email me at wilwhalen23@gmail and let me know what happened? Rest in peace my sweet girl. I miss you so much. I've already cried a million tears.

Marnie was my sweet baby sister, who's spirit and love will remain with me eternally. The world is not the same without her. We shared so many life lessons, laughter, and losses together. I miss her kindness, sense of humor and intellect, I am a better person because of this beautiful soul.
Love you Ponster Monster!
