Sanchez, Adelle

Adelle Sanchez, born August 16, 1924 in Albuquerque, NM. Passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, July 13 2017.She is preceded in death by her husband Phil, her grandson Dion Sanchez, her granddaughter Marisol Sanchez, her great granddaughter Alicia Herrera. She is survived by her daughter Maxine Somogyi and husband George, son Eddie Sanchez and Ramona, son Jerry Sanchez and wife Marilyn, son Carl Sanchez and wife Rubyann, son David Sanchez and Diane and her sister Evangeline Call; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren & two great-great-grand-children.

Adelle was a lifelong resident of Albuquerque and was born to Dave and Florinda Barela and was raised by her Grandmother Feliciana Alarid in the Barelas neighborhood. Adelle graduated from Albuquerque High School. She worked in the shipyards of California while her husband Phil was in the U.S.Army fighting during WWII and was one of the original "Rosie the Riveter" factory workers. They soon came back to Albuquerque to start their family. Adelle became a Court Call Clerk for NM Metro Court and retired from that position. She was a devout catholic and was a very outgoing person & enjoyed "conversing" with anybody that wished to carry a conversation with her. She loved all the holidays including her birthdays which meant she would be with all her family and many of her friends which she treasured so much. To our Mother & our Grandmother thank you for the wonderful life you provided us. We will always remember you in our Hearts & you will be dearly missed.

Adelle's services will be held July 21st, Friday at Queen of Heaven Church. Rosary will start at 9:30 a.m. followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. Reception will follow at 12:00 pm. She will be interned with her husband Phil at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM. at a later date.
