Augustin Bernardo Tafoya

Augustin Bernardo Tafoya, AKA Bernie Tafoya, passed away December 23, 2017. He was a United States Marine Corps Sergeant and Veteran of the Vietnam War from 1967 through 1969. He served with distinction as a mortar man, receiving two Purple Hearts and one United States Navy Commendation Medal for heroic achievement. He was an excellent sharpshooter and marksman. Following his distinguished military career, Bernie worked for the Mountain Bell Telephone Company. Bernie also received his associate's degree from The University of New Mexico.

Bernie Tafoya was a beloved son, loving father, loyal brother, devoted grandfather, and valued friend. He had a huge heart with which he loved Jesus Christ above all. Bernie also loved his family dearly, and he was a great presence in their lives. He was always there when he was needed, and he will forever be loved and missed by his family.

Bernie is survived by his parents, Emilia and Florentino Tafoya; brother, Leroy Tafoya and his wife Christine Tafoya; daughter, Sonya Holmberg and her husband Dustin Holmberg; son, Joshua Tafoya and his wife Charity Tafoya; grandchildren, Mariah Vaughan and her husband Martin Vaughan III, Brianna Delmolino, Alyssa Delmolino, Arianna Carlos, Joslyn Tafoya, and Luke Tafoya; and great-grandson, Martin Vaughn IV.

The funeral mass service will be held on the 3rd of January 2018 at Our Lady of Assumption Church at 11 a.m.
