1922-2016



Alfred Zera McDaniel (Mac), a resident of Peralta, NM, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, August 30, 2016. He was born and raised in Clovis, NM. Alfred was a United States Navy WWII veteran. He retired from The Bureau of Reclamation Department of Interior after 37 years. Alfred also worked as an engineer on various projects in New Mexico including El Vado and Cochiti Dams. Mac was a

Jack-of-all trades who was always there to provide a helping hand to friends and neighbors (if you had a problem Mac could fix it). He was a lifelong farmer in Curry and Valencia County. Alfred is preceded in death by his parents, Dee Z. McDaniel and Effie Sparks-McDaniel; brothers, Barney and Glenn; sister, Byrna Ruth Bridges; and daughter, Corliss McDaniel-Grubert. He is survived by his loving wife of 75 years, Ruth Cleveland-McDaniel; daughters, Jo Ann Bowman and husband, Wally, Jo Marie Balok and husband, Alan, Cora Hernandez and husband, Ed; and son-in-law, James C. Grubert. Alfred is also survived by nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. All services will be held at Romero Funeral Home, on Tuesday, September 6, 2016. A Final Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m., with a Celebration of Life to be celebrated at 10:00am. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Pallbearers will be Ed Hernandez, Alan Balok, Ryan Hernandez, Edward Hernandez Jr., Landon Balok, David Young, and Eliseo Romero. Honorary pallbearers are Wally Bouman, and James C. Grubert.
