Alicia Allman Snyder Obituary
Snyder, Alicia Allman

2/11/38 - 4/2/16

Alicia, age 78, of Albuquerque, passed away at home after a brief but courageous fight with ovarian cancer. Born in Philadelphia, PA to Alfred Allman and Frieda Rugart, she spent her formative years in the Philadelphia area. While earning her RN at Bryn Mawr Hospital Nursing School, she met her future husband, Russ, whom she married in 1960. They spent time in Germany while Russ was serving in the Army. After returning to the U.S., they made their way to Albuquerque, NM in 1967. While her kids were young and in school, she studied for and earned a Master's degree in Counseling from UNM. She spent the majority of her career as an elementary school nurse and counselor with the Albuquerque Public School system.

She was a kind, caring, friendly, warm-hearted person. She loved her dogs, her family, her friends, and "her kids" at school. She once called herself an "outlier" and often marched to her own drumbeat. When she wanted to accomplish something, her tenacity, commitment and courage were unwavering and impressive. Her smile and gregariousness will be missed.

She leaves behind her husband of 56 years, Dr. Russell D. Snyder, of Albuquerque; son Phillip Snyder of Albuquerque; daughter Christine Cumpston (Rusty) of Monte Sereno, CA; two grandchildren Will and Ben Cumpston; sister Arlene Seeger of West Chester, PA; brother-in-law Drew Snyder (Deb) of Allentown, PA; and many cherished nephews and friends.

Thanks to all the doctors, nurses, social workers and caregivers and all the friends who provided love and care for her.

No service will be held, at Alicia's request. Any memorials may be made in her name to The Humane Society or The .
