Christian, Andy Eugene

Andy Eugene Christian, age 47, passed away August 14, 2017, after a little over a year in hospital, rehab, and nursing home care. Andy fought hard, was strong and patient-- always kept an upbeat attitude and good sense of humor, was thoughtful and kind, and continued to be curious about everything happening around him. He could tell you anything you needed to know, from which restaurant had new menu items to which movies to watch or tourist attractions to visit. As his illness progressed, he regarded himself as someone who could still help others, both by being a good listener to problems and by prayer. He loved animals, especially his little dog Walker, had a tender heart, enjoyed life, and was devoted to family and friends. All of us will miss Andy very much.

Andy was born August 7, 1970, and was a life-long resident of Albuquerque. He worked for the Albuquerque Police Department, serving as a 911 Operator, Dispatcher and Supervisor, for almost 20 years. He also held a variety of jobs utilizing his computer and problem-solving skills, until his illness forced an early retirement.

He is survived by his wife, Gregoria (Goya) Christian; faithful companion Walker; mother, Brenda Finley of Amarillo, TX; father, Mark Christian and wife Sharon of Roswell, NM; sister, Candi Shinaberry and husband Mike; nephews, Jason and Joshua Shinaberry; mother-in-law, Esther Quintero; brother-in-law, Edward Quintero; sister-in-law, Michelle Quintero; and many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

A funeral mass was held Saturday, August 19, 2017, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Albuquerque. Donations in memory of Andy may be made to the , an Animal Shelter, or the .
