Montano, Antonio (Tio Ton'e)

Antonio (Tio Ton'e) Montano, 94, was called to his eternal resting place on July 31, 2017. He was born on May 13, 1924.

Tio Ton'e as he was so affectionately called by everyone who loved, respected and admired by everyone who knew him. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Demetrio and Louisa Montana, brothers, Patricio Chavez, Hilaro Montano and Manuel Montano, his sister, Rosaliia Gonzales, his sons, Andy Montano and Ruben Montano and son-in-law, Glen Michael. Tio Ton'e is survived by the true loves in his life, Julia Montano, his wife of 75 precious years; his two daughters, Lorraine and husband, Joseph Cordova and Stella Michael; his sons, Raymond Montano and wife, Patricia, Lawrence Montano and wife, Angelina, Jesse Montano and wife, Eileen, Tony Montano and Johnny Montano; daughter-in-laws, Angie and Josie Montano. Grandpa is also survived by an enormous group of 31 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren and 29 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Nelda Garcia and husband, Melisandro; brother, Demetro Montano and wife, Martha as well as countless nieces and nephews, neighbors and the countless friends who came to know this great man known as Tio Ton's.

Our beloved dad and grandpa worked decades in the stucco and plastering industry passing down the trade he most cherished and profected to his sons, grandsons and great-grandsons. Grandpas greatest treasure was his ranch in Golden, NM where he spent many years feeding his livestock and building his home away from home. We all treasure the times we spent together as a family with grandpa and gramma. We will all cherish and honor the memories you have given us for the rest of our lives.

Services for Mr. Montano will be held Sunday, August 6, 2017 at Riverside Funeral Home, 225 San Mateo NE. Viewing is 4:00 p.m. with Rosary to follow. A Mass will be held Monday, August 7, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary on 4th and Alameda. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Nathan Montano, Patrick Montano, Lawrence Montano Jr., Ruben Montano, Robert Cordova and Issac Montano. Honorary pallbearers are Carl Michaels and Jonathan Montano.

The Montano family would like to thank Rivreside Funeral Home and the staff for the support and compassion shown to us in our time of sorrow.
