A.R. "Rusty" Rustebakke

A.R. "Rusty" Rustebakke left this world on July 17, hours shy of his 93rd birthday. Born in Callender, IA in 1925, he recieved his commission and wings as a Navy pilot in 1946. He graduated, with honors, from Grinnell College in 1950 and earned his PhD in clinical psychology from Columbia University Teacher's College in 1957. He worked for the VA Hospital, mainly in Albuquerque from 1961 until he retired.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Ann. He is survived by his children of that union; his son, Leif and his daughter, Siri and his grand-daughter, Tiana. Also preceding him in death was his second wife, Toni (Aaron) with whom he lived in Placitas, Gualala, CA and Rockport, TX before moving back to New Mexico, where he resided in Corrales until 2013.

He enjoyed different activities through the years: basketball, fishing, golf, tennis, swimming, yoga & tai chi. He was a voracious reader, a fanatic writer/philosopher, a righteous blogger and a student of all things Zen. A fearless if only somewhat skilled handyman, options trader and winemaker, he was an attentive father and provider to his children, stepchildren and wives. He never ceased his quest to live fully in the moment, even if it occasionally meant seeming out of step with the rest of the world. We'll miss you dad...
