Barbara Sena Hosenfeld

Barbara Sena Hosenfeld passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on Wednesday, July 4, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Barbara, 76, was born in Washington, D.C. on July 29, 1941 to Ray Sena Jr. and Eva Marquart Sena. She lived around the world as a child of a

Foreign Service officer, residing in Argentina, Indonesia and Lebanon as well as spending a summer in both Norway and Pakistan. She graduated high school from the American Community School in Beirut, Lebanon, from the University of New Mexico with a Bachelor's in Education 1965 and from Highlands University with a Master's in Education in 1980. Barbara was a devoted teacher for over 29 years in Santa Fe at Young Jr High and Alameda Jr. High. Barbara met Leo Hosenfeld on the University of New Mexico campus as an undergraduate and they married in 1965 and were married for 52 years before Leo passed on Labor Day 2017. Barbara had a number of different hobbies of which she was both passionate and devoted to. She was a volunteer firefighter and EMT with Leo for the Hondo Fire Department for over 20 years. Barbara was an avid quilter, and worked many hours for Quilt Works in Albuquerque in her "retirement". She also loved knitting and Colcha, which are traditional hand stitching techniques brought down from Hispanic cultures. Barbara was an exceptional gardener, a fan of the arts and musical theater, and a strong advocate for women's rights and education. She was a proud member of Delta Gamma Sorority for over 50 years. Barbara was preceded in death by her mother Eva (1957) father Ray (2000), step-mother

Eleanor (2016) and husband Leo (2017). Barbara is survived by her son Peter, son Mark, his wife Anika and granddaughter Elsa; brothers Mike Sena and wife Patty, Patrick Sena, and Steve Sena and wife
