Baker, Betty Rae

Betty Rae Baker, age 90, passed away on March 27, 2016. As her last mortal act of faith she held on until Easter Sunday. She was preceded in death by her husband Bob L. Baker with whom she was married for 45 years.

Born in La Jara, Colorado, she was the daughter of Ray and Viola Clarke. Betty Rae graduated from Alamosa High School in Alamosa, CO in 1945. She was a work-at-home mother and as an empty-nester worked for the US Forest Service for seven years.

She was a lifetime member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where she served in many callings, especially in Relief Society, the church's women's organization. She was an avid genealogist and family history expert. Mrs. Baker is most remembered for her fiery spirit and clever sense of humor.

Mrs. Baker is survived by her sister, Leona Claunch; two children, Susan Kirkpatrick and husband Ronald; Kelly Baker and wife Heather, all of Albuquerque. She was very proud of her seven grandchildren, Jana Valdez, Danny Kirkpatrick, Brooke Finau, Sara Kirkpatrick, Linden Baker, Haley Baker, Garrett Baker; and, her two great-grandchildren, Carter Finau and Jacob Valdez.

Memorial Services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1100 Montano NW, Albuquerque. A viewing for family and friends will be at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, March 30, 2016.
