Betty G. (Behmer) Wagoner

Betty Gene (Behmer) Wagoner, born December 9, 1921 in Plymouth, Indiana, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2018 at the age of 96. She grew up in a large family on a dairy farm, but claimed to have never milked a cow. In the midst of a world war she married her sailor, the love of her life, Wentzel W. Wagoner, in 1942. They fled the snowy Midwest to New Mexico in 1954 and lived at various times in Albuquerque, the East Mountains, Bosque Farms, and Placitas. An excellent cook, seamstress, quilter, knitter and homemaker, she spent her years ensuring a good life for her husband and family. She could be stubborn, yet her subtle humor was ever ready. She was a gift shop volunteer for Presbyterian Hospital for more than 30 years. She is survived by a younger sister, Judy Ward, in California; her daughter, Connie J. Nordstrom, of Farmington, NM; and son, Douglas W. Wagoner, of Albuquerque; as well as six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. On May 4, 2018, she will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband in the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
