Beverly H. Shiver Obituary
Shiver, Beverly H.

Surrounded by family at her Albuquerque home, Beverly Shiver died quietly on Saturday, February 20 at the age of 87. Born Beverly Manton Harrell on May 31, 1928 in El Paso, TX to George Murray Harrell and Olive Lovell Harris, she was preceded in death by her parents and five siblings and by two grandchildren: Jennifer Barry and Nathan Ford.

She is survived by five children: Judy Ford (husband Larry) of Bartonville, TX; Doris Barry of Loma, CO; Jack C. Shiver (Louise), Bill Shiver (Loretta) and Carolyn Shiver, all of Albuquerque; and by six grandchildren: John Barry (Rebekah); Aaron Shiver (Michelle Lynn); Lucas Shiver (Michelle Marie); Natalie Ludwick (Josh); Dorian Shiver (Mariana) and Elliot Shiver (Alicia). She also leaves nine great- grandchildren: Robert, Thomas, Maren, Nicholas, Willow, Liam, Leiden, Olivia and Ruby.

Bev lived in Albuquerque for 53 years. She liked the mountains, the weather and the green chile, but to her the best thing about Albuquerque was the International Balloon Fiesta. She worked balloon crews until late into her 70s, and for several years running was the oldest crew member of the entire Fiesta. She will be cremated and her ashes scattered from a hot-air balloon.

Bev was well-known for her frankness and sharp tongue, and admired for her staunch friendship and sense of fair play. Her family, friends and neighbors all loved her dearly and will miss her greatly. Hers was a life well-lived.

A memorial service will be held at French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd NE, at 2pm on Friday, February 26th.
