Bill Lawrence Mansker
William Lawrence Mansker (Bill), 74, passed away on January 13, 2019 at his home in Albuquerque. Born December 11, 1944 to Gail and David Hogue, but raised as a true and blue Mansker by his mom, Gail and dad, Thurman (Bill) Mansker. He married Karen Thrasher in 2004 and often said she was the best thing that ever happened to him. Her strength kept him focused on the good things in life. After graduating from Plato High School, he succeeded in receiving a Master Degree from the University of Missouri, and his PHD from the University of New Mexico in Geology Science. As a Geologist, he followed his kpassions throughout his career. All the while becoming a sought after professional court witness, an accomplished self- taught guitarist, he was author of many professional papers, expert photographer, inventor with patents, and an accomplished poet. As a young, geologic scientist, he was one of the first to analyze the moon rocks from outer space. Quite a joker with a "missing thumb" or "invisible dog", he kept his nieces and nephews, and all kids entertained. All kids loved him. He served his country in the US Army during the 1960's and received an honorable discharge as a Specialist 5. Survived by his wife Karen, brothers, Dave Hogue (Becky) Salt Lake City, Mike Mansker (Jan) Branson, Mo, Pat Mansker, South Carolina, Steve Mansker (Dee), Tonganoxie, Ks, sisters, Gail May (Bill), Springfield, Mo, Lela Bettes (Jerry), Falcon, Mo, stepsons Steve, Gregg, grandkids Blake, Kaylea, Jordan, Zoey, and a bunch of nieces and nephews who adored him. Preceded in death by mom Gail, dad Bill, stepbrother Curt, nephew John, sister-law Diane and his best friend Jake. Services by Daniels Family Funeral Home, 7601 Wyoming Bvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87109 on Friday, January 18, 2019. Gathering of Friends and Family at 1:00 PM, Memorial Service at 2:00 PM.
