bill mclean Obituary
McLean, Bill

Bill McLean, beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, went home to be with The Lord after a short battle with cancer on April 27, 2016.

Bill was born on May 14, 1936 in Lafayette, Indiana. When he was a young boy, his family moved here to Albuquerque. Bill attended NMMI (Roswell, NM) and Highland High School, graduating in 1954. After being stationed in Korea, Bill returned to UNM where he was in Sigma Chi Fraternity and graduated with his degree in Civil Engineering. He married Linda Moore in 1959. Bill worked as a civil engineer in Santa Fe, Albuquerque, Cloudcroft & Rio Rancho before retiring in 2008.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Edna Mae & Monty McLean; his sister, Phyllis; his son, Matt McLean; and his nephew, Jimmy Barber.

He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Judy; former wife, Linda Caldwell; his daughter, Tracy and her husband, Paul Tafoya; granddaughters, Brittany and Emily Tafoya; niece, Vicky Barber and stepson, Michael Taylor.

The family would like to thank his many friends for a lifetime of love, laughs & support.

Bill loved life and lived a great one, as illustrated in his life's motto: Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming, "Woo-hoo ... what a ride!"

A celebration of Bill's life is pending.
