Dunagan, Bobby Joyce

Bobby Joyce Dunagan, 88, departed this life Monday, February 13, 2017 in Albuquerque, New Mexico following a brief illness.

He leaves his wife, Emmelienne Schreiner; his sons Robin Dunagan and Steven Dunagan; his daughter Susan Kidd; and his grandchildren, Melissa Kidd, Kristin Nunnery, Christian Dunagan, Vincent Dunagan, and Christopher Dunagan.

Bobby was preceded in death by his former wife, Frieda Charlene Doman and his son Thomas Dunagan.

Bobby was raised in San Antonio, Texas and at 17 enlisted in the Marines and a few years later, the Air Force. He moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1979. He always shared his love and laughter with his many close friends and with his community.

During his last years, Bobby developed a personal relationship with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Serving in the United States Marine Corps and later as a Colonel in the United States Air Force, Bobby's 30-year career in operational flying and project management offered him the opportunity to do what he loved.

Bobby dedicated his life to his undeniable passion for flying both propeller and jet aircraft. He acquired over 5000 hours of flight in various types of aircraft including training, cargo, bombers, and fighters. In honor of his courageous and bold career, Bobby was recognized for Valor in Vietnam.

As one of the original officers, he was hand selected to plan, organize, and implement the Air Force Technical Evaluation Command at Kirtland Air Force Base. Later re-designated as the Air Force Observation Technical Evaluation Command.

Retiring from Kirtland Air Force Base, his career included duty stations in Oklahoma, Texas, Ohio, California, Florida, Korea, and Vietnam.

Bobby will be laid to rest in a private burial at Santa Fe National Cemetery.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Feb 22, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Sandia Baptist Church, 9429 Constitution Ave NE, Alb, NM 87112. Reception to follow. Flowers or donations may be given Sandia Baptist Church.
