McClure, Brendan

Brendan Taylor McClure, 28, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, June 4, 2017.

He lived every day of his life thirsting for knowledge and seeking ways to help others. He was loving and accepting to all walks of life; lived without laying judgment on others and freely lived his life to his heart's desire. Brendan never met a stranger and made friends with people from all walks of life. Above all he cherished his relationships with family and friends.

A voracious reader, he always carried books with him and frequently shared or gave them away to anyone he thought would enjoy them. Brendan never tired from learning, he was a perpetual student and expressed himself through many forms: reading, writing, singing, dancing, drawing, philosophizing, music, conversation, meditation, spirituality and Tai Chi.

He was unapologetically true to himself and whom he wanted to be - a rare and beautiful characteristic to see.

He was raised by his mother in Albuquerque and spent time with his father in Tennessee and Virginia. In Albuquerque, he attended John Baker Elementary School, Hoover Middle School, Madison Middle School, El Dorado High School and graduated from Landstown High School in Virginia Beach, VA before returning to Albuquerque.

Brendan is survived by his mother, Barbara Kirk; father, Curtis, stepmother, Sally, McClure; stepbrothers, Ian and Alex; grandparents, Larry and Sandy Kirk, Debrielle Welch and Linda McClure; aunts, uncles and cousins, Brian and Susie McClure, Danny McClure, Doug and Ali Kirk, Kai and Kellan; and his companion, Gabrielle.

Please join us in celebrating Brendan's life at 10:30 AM on Saturday, August 5, 2007 at the Rio Grande Center for Spiritual Living, 4374 Alexander Blvd NE, Suite T. A reception will follow. Please bring a photo, written memory or anything that reminds you of him. We will be creating a wall of memories for people to post and share to showcase his life.

Brendan was a true believer of doing for others and giving back to those whom he saw more in need than him. In lieu of flowers please bring non-perishable food items or other items that could be given to those who would benefit from being touched by his legacy of helping others.

To honor the amazing human being he was, our hope is that the memorial will be in the spirit of how he lived his life through acceptance, understanding and love.
