Brian Douglas Haines had an incredible gift for harmonizing with nature and all the beauty that he found therein.

Brian's professional career was well decorated. He was a partner in the Public Accounting firm of Kriegel & Company and he is distinguished as being the longest standing County Manager of Dona Ana County. He loved the Mesilla Valley and the incredible gifts of nature that surrounds us. He was committed to making the Mesilla Valley a better place through his contributions of personal time with many community outreach programs such as serving on the Board of Directors of the Memorial General Hospital.

Brian added much to the quality of life we enjoy here in Southern New Mexico not only through his business acumen, but also through his love for the arts. He was an accomplished and passionate cellist. Brian played with the El Paso Symphony, Las Cruces Symphony and most recently with the New Horizons Symphony Orchestra.

Brian was born in Las Cruces, NM on August 20, 1955 and passed away August 16, 2016. His burial services will be held this Saturday, August 20th at 10:00am at St. James Episcopal Church, 102 S. Main Street. There will be a private interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to be made in Brian's honor to St. James' Episcopal Church in Mesilla Park, NM where he was baptized,raised as a child, married and where his burial services are now to be conducted. He is survived by is his brothers, Ben H. Haines Jr. and Sandra Herkenhoff, Edward Morris and Nyeta LaDon Haines, Brandon Hill Haines, his niece Cynthia Elaine Reynolds, his cousins Dory Lee West and Lee Edward and Thais Darlene Haines as well as his former wife, Lilly Caballero-Haines. He is preceded in death by his parents Dr. Ben H. Haines D.D.S. and Julia Gifford Haines and his niece, Laura Sue Haines. Brian touched many lives with his kind loving spirit, using his brilliant mind to push himself to leave things better than he found them.
