Maher, Brian Gerard

Brian Gerard Maher was born Sept. 27, 1958 in Albuquerque, NM. He passed away Friday, March 10, 2017 in Albuquerque.

Brian grew up in Dunkirk, New York and moved to Albuquerque in 1984, where he spent the rest of his life.

He graduated from Dunkirk High School in Dunkirk, New York in 1976 and attended SUNY at Fredonia, NY and TVI in Albuquerque, NM.

Brian was extremely intelligent and lived his life with grace and compassion for others. He was a man of simple needs, but was always willing to share what he had with others. Brian was presented with many challenges throughout much of his life, but he faced them with courage & fought the good fight. In fact, in 2015, he was awarded the Frank Gray House Client of the Year Award.

He was much loved by his family and friends and by anyone who was fortunate enough get to know the real Brian.

Brian was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Maher; uncles, Karl Toponce and Bob Maher and by his grandmother, Eleanor Maher. He is survived by his sister, Marie Maher and her husband Mike Schulz; aunts, Mary Toponce, Linda Neumann and husband Norbert; uncle, Eddie Maher; as well as several cousins and other family members and friends who loved and will miss him.

A Memorial Service will be held at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal, 601 Montano Blvd. NW., on Monday, March 20, 2017 at 3:00 PM. Arrangements by Direct Services 2919 4th St. NW. ABQ. 505-343-8008.
