De La O, Calaya

Calaya De La O, age 81, was a lifelong resident of Albuquerque New Mexico was born February 2, 1936.

She passed away on Sunday, May 7, 2017. Growing up, she enjoyed playing sports, spending time with her family, and playing in the band. As an adult, Calaya was an avid member of the Parent Teacher Association, she taught piano, and throughout her life she was an active supporter of the special needs community of Albuquerque.

She was preceded in death by her parents Jesus and Josephine Trujillo; a brother Frank Trujillo and a granddaughter Eva Karler.

She is survived by her husband Valentino De La O; daughters Novela De La O-Brezowski and husband Carl, Cristal Karler, and Carmela De La O; grandchildren Omar De La O, Nicholas Karler and Sofia Karler.

A Rosary will be recited on Friday, May 12, 2017 at 7:00 pm at St. Anne Catholic Church, 1400 Arenal Rd. SW. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 10:00 am also at St. Anne's. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery, 1900 Edith Blvd. NE. A reception will follow the burial at St. Anne's Parish Hall. Pallbearers will be Omar De La O, Nicholas Karler, Scott Karler, Carl Brezowski, Steven Trujillo and Patrick Trujillo.
