Carlos Alonzo Montoya, 62, lifelong resident of Los Lunas, N.M., passed away peacefully on December. 19, 2015 surrounded by his family.

Carlos was born May 18, 1953 in Albuquerque, N.M. to Orlando and Nancy Montoya. A 1971 graduate of Los Lunas High School, he attended the University of Albuquerque before enlisting in the United States Navy where he served on the USS Bainbridge. He later obtained his Bachelors in Business from the University of Albuquerque.

Serving as a city councilman of Los Lunas for 12 years, he instilled a love for politics in his two oldest children who have followed in his footsteps.

Montoya was preceded in death by his father, Orlando Montoya; mother, Nancy Montoya; and numerous aunts and uncles. He is survived by his son, Orlando (Kristie) Montoya; his daughters, Erica (Jason) Romero and Olivia Montoya; former spouse, Sandra Somerville; his longtime companion, Ana Otero; grandchildren, Derek and Bella Montoya, and Sofia, Emilia and Nico Romero; his brothers and sisters, Theresa (David) Fullerton, Orlando "Reno" (Dawn) Montoya, Michael (Samantha) Montoya, Rozella (Kenneth) Haynes and Nancy Montoya (Joe) Gonzales, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

All services will be held at San Clemente Parish beginning on Monday, December 21st with a visitation at 6:00 p.m. and a rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. The final visitation will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 22nd with the funeral following at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at San Clemente Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joe Gonzales, Jason Romero, Avilio Chavez, Bernie Gurule, Joe Barta, Kevin Fullerton, Rico and Tino Gonzales. Honorary pallbearers will be Nico Romero, Derek Montoya, Pete Montoya, and Aaron Haynes.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Vincent De Paul of San Clemente. Arrangements are being handled by the caring professionals at Romero Funeral Home
