Denas, Catherine Susan Rash



Catherine Susan Rash Denas, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on Monday, February 20, 2017.



She is survived by her son Paul Denas and wife Ivana of Albuquerque; five grandchildren; several great grandchildren as well as many other family members and friends who loved and will miss her.



During WWII she served in the Woman's Army Corps (WAC) 1942-1945, at Buckingham Army Air Base, Florida and at the Pentagon, Washington D.C.



Catherine married Lieutenant Joseph Denas on August 5, 1950 at Fort Holabird, Maryland. She accompanied him to Vienna Austria 1952-1955. While in Austria she visited Rome, Paris, Berlin, the Hogue, the Isle of Capri and numerous other famous cities and landmarks.



Catherine was a member of the Annunciation Catholic Church, Kirtland Air Force Base Retired Officers Wives Club, Albuquerque Museum Foundation, Cosmopolitan Women's Club, American Association of Retired Persons and the Bear Canyon Senior Citizens Club.



She served on the Building Committee of Annunciation Parish Catholic Church & was a Dosent at the Albuquerque Museum.



Catherine was a people person and liked to help others. Traveling, gardening, sewing, reading and playing bridge were of special interest and gave her joy. She was bi-lingual speaking Czech and English. A Graveside service will be held at the Santa Fe National Cemetery on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at 11:15am with U.S. Army Honors.
