Cecil Rhodes Obituary
Rhodes, Cecil W.

Cecil W. Rhodes passed away Monday, June 26, 2017 at the VA Hospital MICU at the age of "27 backwards". Cecil was born October 8, 1944 in Newburg, NY.

He was a resident of Albuquerque, NM where he worked for Cintas paper recycling for many years. During this time, he met many people and always had a smile. The most important thing in his life besides the Lord was his family, his daughter, and grandchildren. He was a Dallas Cowboy fan and loved his fish. He was a very giving person always putting others first, even if he had to do without. Cecil was proud to have served his country in Vietnam. He was much loved, and will be truly missed.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Rhodes of Cuba, NM; his parents, Cecil F. Rhodes and Sarah Morton; and sister, Minya Clum of NY. He is survived by his daughter, Faith Sanchez (husband, Joe Sanchez) of Cuba, NM; grandchildren, Joseph, Andrew, Benjamin, and Jacquelynn Sanchez; sister, Dawn Block of NY; nieces, Elda Clark, Laura Shute, and Cheryl Shaw of NY; nephews, Daniel Shute, and Rodney Shute of NY; and all of the extended Sanchez family.

A viewing will be held Saturday, July 1, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Cuba, 6361 Hwy 550 Cuba, NM. Burial will follow at the Cuba Baptist cemetery in Cuba, NM.

Pallbearers will be Joseph Sanchez, Andrew Sanchez, Benjamin Sanchez, Horacio Sanchez, William Sanchez, and Steven Oldham. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Sanchez and Jerome Sanchez. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Cuba, PO Box 391 Cuba, NM 87013. Special thanks to the staff at the VA MICU, Mark, Laura, Shoshana, Brenda, Ryan, Patty, Vanessa, Lilly, Dr.Wiese, and Jennifer. And to everyone else that was such a blessing to us at the VA during this very hard time.
