Celso B. Sanchez

Celso B. Sanchez, age 79, a resident of Adelino, NM, passed away on Monday, January 29, 2018. He was a member of Tome Immaculate Conception Church and the American Quarter Horse Association. Celso served in the US Air Force and returned home to begin his own career and started his own farming business, Valley Feed & Welding, which he operated for almost 50 years. He was a respected and well-known member of the local farming company; he was often found hanging out in front of his shop waiting for a customer or friend whom he could sell something to. Celso was devoted to his family and his job, with everything else a far second. He was best known for his greeting response to anyone asking how he was doing; he'd just smile and reply, "pretty good." Celso was preceded in death by his parents, Jose P. Sanchez and Epifania Sanchez; his brothers, Processo and Richard Sanchez. He is survived by his best friend and lifelong companion, Mary Stella Ellis; his sister, Lillie Chacon; niece, Cindy Chacon and her husband, Steve Burdett; nephew, Ed Chacon and his wife, JoLynn; grand-niece, Amber Simmons and her husband, Skyler; grand-nephews, Eric Hungerford, Kyle Chacon and Nick Burdett; grand-nieces, AnnaLeigh and Olivia; and great-grand-nephews, Dillon and (his tocayo) Diego Celso Simmons.

All services will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tome. A viewing will be held at 5:00 p.m., with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m., on Wednesday, January 31, 2018. A final viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m., with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, February 1, 2018. Interment will follow at Tome Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ed Chacon, Steve Burdett, Kyle Chacon Skyler Simmons, Mike Silva and Jared Zamora. Honorary pallbearers will be Phil Vallejos, Robert Torres, Ralph Mendoza, AnnaLeigh & Olivia Burdett, Andrew Diaz, Kalem and Kagen Zamora, Geraldine Ellis, Lydia Alfaro, Ymelda Gallegos and Leticia Gutierrez. The family would like to thank all his caregivers, neighbors, friends, the nursing staff at Lovelace ICU and Ambercare for their support to Celso; you have helped make this difficult time much more bearable for the family.
