Charles Rob "Bob" Adams

Charles Rob "Bob" Adams, age 88, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2018, in Albuquerque, NM. Bob was born on April 18, 1930 in Calloway County, Ky, to Harry and Mildred (Stubblefield) Adams.

Bob met the love of his life, Frances Jean Horton, when he was 12 years old, and they wed in 1951 in Los Angeles, CA. They were married for almost 65 years before Frances passed away in April of 2017.

Bob joined the Air Force in 1950 and served as a weather forecaster at Pusan AFB in South Korea and in Tokyo during the Korean War. After returning from serving our country overseas, Bob enrolled at Murray State University where he received his B.S. and Master's degrees and additionally received teaching certification. After teaching for six years at North and South Marshall High Schools in Kentucky, he was accepted into the doctoral program at the University of New Mexico and moved the family to Albuquerque in 1964. Upon completing his coursework, he accepted a teaching position at Del Norte High School where he taught chemistry for 24 years.

Bob had fun over the years coaching at Altamont Little League, taking karate lessons, playing golf, earning his private pilot license, teaching himself guitar, piano & ukulele, and traveling the world. He maintained a keen interest in the science field, especially physics and astronomy, and stayed current with online courses. He took great joy in his family, making his famous pancakes every Saturday morning for his grand and great-grandchildren. He attended Central United Methodist Church for many years and was a member of St Stephen's United Methodist Church, where he sang in the choir.

Bob is survived by 3 children, Karen (Scott) Davis of Albuquerque, Kaye (Greg) Riggs of Atlanta, GA, and Kelly (Lisa) Adams of Albuquerque; 7 grandchildren, Adam and Erin Davis, Callie (Jeff) Riggs Dauler and Kristen Riggs, Nick, CJ, and Bryan Adams; 3 great-grandchildren, Ethan, Erik and Emory Davis; 1 sister, Doris (Pat) Jones of Sikeston, MO, and many loving in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.

We would like to thank his loving caregivers at "A Love For Life" and those at his previous residence, as well as Hospice of New Mexico. Also, a special thank you to Dr. Sonam Kundeling, whose special care gave us many more quality years with our dad. We shall never forget all of you for your compassion and kindness.
