Charles Bejcek Obituary
Charles A. Bejcek

Charles A. Bejcek, age 88, passed away October 24, 2017, with his wife of 65 years, Mary, by his side.

He was known as "Chuck" to his family and friends and "Charlie" to the ballooning community. With his outgoing personality, he never met a stranger, and hugs were mandatory by all women and children. After joining the United States Air Force he became interested in weather and worked on becoming a meteorologist. After retiring from the National Weather Service in 1985, he enjoyed traveling with his wife in their motor home to various places in the United States and Canada, going to various events like the Kentucky Derby or the Calgary Stampede. After moving to Albuquerque in 1980, he got bitten by the ballooning bug and eventually volunteered his talents as a weatherman to the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta for 14 years and was known as "Charlie the Weather Wizard."

Charles is survived by his wife, Mary; son, Lewis and daughter-in- law, Rebecca; his grandsons, Thomas and Justin; his daughter, Jann; granddaughter, Jessica; grandson, Gabriel; his sister, Ruth and her husband, David; two great-grandchildren; and various nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, James.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, November 4, 2017, 9:00 a.m. at Sandia Presbyterian Church, 10704 Paseo Del Norte, Albuquerque, NM 87122. Please visit our online guestbook for Charles at
