Charles Joseph Schmitt, Jr.
1923 â€" 2018
Charles Joseph Schmitt, Jr., 94, of Westminster, formerly of Finksburg, MD, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 16, 2018 at Brightview Westminster Ridge. Born in 1923 in New York, he was the son of the late Charles Joseph, Sr. and Elizabeth Prekopi Schmitt. He was the husband of the late Frieda Hanna Schmitt, the love of his life.
Charles worked for many years as an engineer and supervisor at Grumman Aircraft. He was also a proud veteran of the United States Army and Air Force and served his country in World War II.
Surviving him are children: Jeanne Watkins and husband Robert of New York City; and Elizabeth Jeppesen and husband Dave Giddens of Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was predeceased by a son, Charles Joseph Schmitt.
Charles has been cremated. Interment and service with military honors will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a deserving veteran's organization. Dad, you were the best!
