Clarence Black, age 81, passed on May 23, 2016 in Glendale, AZ.

Born in Albuquerque, he was a graduate of Albuquerque High.

Clarence was a navigator in the Air Force serving in Vietnam and retiring as a Lt. Col. In 1981. He worked as an engineer for McDonnell Douglas until his second retirement. He made his home in Peoria, AZ since.

Clarence had many loves. He was volunteer carpenter for Habitat for Humanity and Peoria Theater Works. He was a 4th Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus at St. Charles Borromeo in Peoria, AZ. He served as a tennis referee for the USTA and as Treasurer of his homeowners association. He volunteered for St. Vincent de Paul food bank in East St Louis, IL. Gloria always said that his favorite job was one for which he wasn't paid. He was a proud father and grandfather and loved to brag about his family to anyone who would listen. His greatest love was Gloria, his wife of 60 years.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria; his children , Clarice Williams and husband Bobby, David Black, Sidney Koch and husband Ron, Eric Black and partner Dan Schiefen, Vincent Black and wife Carolyn; ten grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; his siblings Santiago Black and Helen, Terrie Baca, Fran Carillo, and Pat Esterly; his sisters-in-law Zelma Kolch and Angie Black.

He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Teresa nee Baca Black; his siblings Joe Black, Vera Baca, Agnes Pena, and Rose Wara; and his in-laws Antonio and Lily Trujillo.

Arrangements: A Rosary will be held at St Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 8615 W. Peoria Ave. Peoria, AZ, on Thursday, June 2, 2016 at 9:30 AM with a Mass to follow at 10:00 AM. Reception at church following Mass. Interment is at the National Memorial Cemetery, 23029 N Cave Creek Rd, Phoenix, AZ at 1:30 PM. Friends and relatives invited.
