Daniel "Waddy" Coppinger, 67, of College Station passed away Wednesday, November 1, 2017. Funeral Services in Texas are set for 11: 00 am Sat., November 4 , 2017 in the Victory United Pentecostal Church College Station, TX.

Born May 11, 1950 in Winchester, Massachusetts he was the son of John Raymond and Marguerite (Wadsworth) Coppinger. He was a lifelong straight A student, he attended NM Tech before joining the Military, where he was a meteorologist both in the Army and for the National Weather Service in Louisiana. While serving overseas in Panama he met his bride affectionately known as "Chavela" or "Chava". They married soon after and upon obtaining his Bachelor of Arts from the University of New Mexico and settled in Albuquerque. "Waddy" and "Chava" were together through thick and thin until his passing.

The Salvation he found through Jesus in 1977 and the family he helped bring into the world were the cornerstones throughout his life. In his later years his joy and inspiration were multiplied by the addition of his five grandchildren.

A gifted athlete in his youth and a full-time outdoors man throughout his life, Waddy never hesitated to take his family to the mountains, the occasional ballgame or his absolute favorite - New Mexico thunderstorm viewing.

The most important loves in his life were his Savior, his wife, his children, his children in law, his beautiful grandchildren and the awesome weather that only his Creator could harness.

He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Waddy leaves behind to cherish his memories, his loving wife of 44 years, Maria Elizabeth Coppinger; three sons, Benjamin Coppinger, Daniel Coppinger and wife Lauren, and Caleb Coppinger and wife Stephanie; two daughters, Isabel Coppinger, and Abelina St John and husband Christopher; two sisters, Carol Coppinger, and Gail Coppinger Martinez; five precious grandchildren, Sophie, Lillian, Levi, Cecily and Violette.

Services in New Mexico will be held at the Living Word Church, 1901 17th Ave. NE. Rio Rancho, NM., on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at 7:00 pm.

Burial will take place at the Santa Fe National Cemetery on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at 11:15 am with US Army Honors.
