David Martin de Steiguer Obituary
de Steiguer, David Martin

1937 - 2016

David Martin de Steiguer passed away on Saturday, March 26th at the University of New Mexico Hospital. He was born December 2, 1937 in Kansas City, Missouri and is preceded in death by his parents Rodolph de Steiguer and Dorothy Hamilton de Steiguer. David graduated from Southwest H.S. in 1956. He then attained his Business Bachelor's from Beloit College in 1959 and his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Kansas State University in 1961. Throughout his life, David was able to combine his engineering expertise with his love of travel and flying. In 1965, he moved to Sydney, Australia, where he founded Martin Aviation Pty. Ltd. He was recognized, recently, by the National Archives of Australia for his 1970 invention of the "infallible burglar alarm". Throughout the years, David enjoyed living and working in Singapore, California, Brussels, and Riyadh for major US and international companies including Teledyne, Loral, British Oxygen and Lucent. His decision to retire to Albuquerque was due, in great part, to his desire to be closer to his daughters and their families.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Anni Birk de Steiguer; two daughters and four grandchildren: Lisa de Steiguer Jenkins and her husband Derrick Jenkins of Jacksonville, FL and their children: Austin and Ty; Michelle de Steiguer Sattler and her husband Jason Sattler of South Salem, NY and their children: Collin and Madison. He is also survived by his sister Susan de Steiguer Horne and her husband Wallace Horne of Vancouver, WA and their two daughters Lorraine and Carolyn and their children.

A memorial service will be held Friday, April 15, 2016 at Unity Spiritual Center of Albuquerque at 2:00 pm.
