Medina, David Amadeo

David Amadeo Medina passed away peacefully in his North Valley home after a long battle with cancer. Mr. Medina was born in Pueblo, Colorado in 1938 to Alfred and Cleotilde Medina. He suffered the passing of his mother at the age of six and entered a lifetime of taking care of others, beginning with his younger brother Ben. After graduating from Springer High School, Mr. Medina enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and four years later joined the New Mexico Air National Guard, where he retired after 33 years of exemplary service. Mr. Medina was an avid fisherman and, along with his wife Celeste, loved fishing and camping in Northern New Mexico. He was also a master gardener and found peace and satisfaction tending his rose garden and maintaining his one acre of the North Valley. Weeds never stood a chance on his property.

Mr. Medina is survived by his loving wife of 44 years Celeste; one son David Amadeo Medina Jr.; his step mother Isabel "Chabela" Medina; three stepsons Jerry, Andy and Daniel Barboa all of Albuquerque; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many other family and friends too numerous to mention.

A Memorial service celebrating the life of David Amadeo Medina will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. at the family home, 1603 Arcadian Tr. NW 87107. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the UNM Children's Hospital. Arrangements by Direct Funeral Services, 2919 4Th St. NW 343-8008
