Donald A. Bice, age 86, a resident of Rio Rancho, NM, passed away on Monday, May 2, 2016. Donald was born September 30, 1929, in Belmont County Ohio, to Jacob and Myrtle Bice, the 4th child in a family of 6. He graduated Cadiz High School in 1948 and joined the U.S. Navy shortly thereafter. He served for 4 years, most of it in submarines. Donald married the former Clara B. Bigger on June 9, 1950. She was the only woman he ever loved and they raised 5 wonderful children. Upon leaving the Navy, Don went to The College of Steubenville and then to Cleveland Engineering Institute. In 1955 he went to work for Hummer Mfg. Co, a Div. of Montgomery Ward, as a design engineer. Don Primarily did design work on lawn mowers and clothes dryers. In 1957 he went to work for Brunswick Corp. as a Project Engineer, designing school furniture, where he obtained several patents. His next Engineering job was with Newcastle Products, Inc., where he joined the Society of Plastics Engineers and became their resident plastics expert. Don was given the task of starting a plastics processing plant from the ground up, that specialized in vacuum forming and extruding. When this was complete he was named Manager of that operation. After approximately 5 years he moved to Milwaukee, WI to start up another plastics processing plant. Don later moved on to "turnaround" management and spent the next 15 years bringing 3 companies back to profitability. He served as President and COO of each of these companies.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Howard and Carl (Mike); and sister, Mary M.

He is survived by his wife, Clara; children, Thomas, Ted, William and his wife, Nelfa, Donald James and Tamra and her husband, Todd; eight grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren; two brothers, James (Sam) and Fred.

A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
