Donald L.Cyphert of Albuquerque, NM, age 77, passed away Sunday, May 8th, 2016, after many years of struggling with severe pain. Don was born in Saltsburg, PA on October 1st, 1938, the fifth of six sons of Alan and Ruth Hamler Cyphert.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter Susan Lynn Kastelic, brothers Wilmer and Wesley Cyphert, and sisters-in-law Janie and Betty Cyphert.

Don is survived by his wife Carol Hall Cyphert; daughter Debra Lee Cyphert; grandsons Michael Kastelic and Donavan Cyphert; granddaughter Jackie Quinn (Max) and family; brothers Allen (Jan), Earl (Joy) and Jaxon (Bertha) Cyphert; mother and father-in-law Margaret and James Ingram; son-in-law John Kastelic; brothers-in-law Allen Hall and David Hall and families; as well as many nieces and nephews and special friends Wade and Paula Cunkelman, Darleen Davis, Sue Cichon, Charlotte Johnson and Susie Gilkey.

Don attended the University of Pittsburgh and the University of New Mexico and was a registered radiographer (x-ray technician). Don worked at several Albuquerque hospitals as Chief Technologist and was an instructor in various x-ray programs. Don was a very dedicated instructor, instilling in his students both the professionalism and skills necessary to have successful careers. His students thought so highly of him that even after graduating and leaving the state many still kept in contact with him. He was President of the New Mexico Society of Radiologic Technologists for several years and editor of the Society's news publication. He was honored with a lifetime membership in this organization. Don was very proud of his profession and was always an advocate for his staff, students, and patients.

Don was a military war historian, football player, and loved playing Scrabble. He was hard to beat! He will be missed but our memories of him will endure.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 14th, 2016, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 2801 Lomas Blvd. NE, Albuquerque. NM.
