Doris Richards Obituary
Richards, Doris June

On Sunday 4th December 2016 June Richards, aged 81, passed away peacefully at her friend Sandra's home in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

June was born on the 13th June 1935, the seventh child of Mary and John Glasgow, one of nine children, four sisters and five brothers from Bethnal Green, London, England. She is survived by her sister Rosemarie and brother Brian who still live in London.

June, was a very bright and bubbly character, always well groomed and enjoyed `keeping up' with ever-changing fashion trends. She would never leave home unless she looked immaculate.

She met Buck Richards, a US serviceman, in the mid 1950's and agreed to visit the US on his return, to see if she would be happy to settle and make a home there. June was comfortable and enjoyed the US lifestyle and within a few weeks they decided to marry. June loved America as did her elder sister Kit (Katherine), who had also met and married a US serviceman, Noel Fields. June and Buck traveled with the army visiting many exotic locations such as Saudi Arabia.

After many years of travelling with the US Airforce June and Buck decided to settle in the US. Initially living in Las Vegas moving onto San Diego, where they stayed for many happy years until 1987. They then moved to Albuquerque to join Kit and Noel and their children, Jo Ann and Lori, where they spent the next 30 years. She enjoyed having people over to visit - brothers, sisters, friends & family.

Buck died ten years or so ago, followed by Kit and Noel passing a few years later. With the loss of her immediate family, June built a social life, enjoyed lunching with girlfriends etc, at the same time she was happy and comfortable in her own company - and being an independent woman.

June's sister Rosemarie, following the loss of her own husband Ken in 2009, began travelling over on a regular basis and they became extremely close.

June was a much loved sister, aunt, wife and friend who will be dearly missed by all.

A special thanks to her friends Sandra and Roger for looking after, and taking great care of June during the last few months and carrying out her wishes.

Services will be on Monday, December 12 with a visitation at 2:00 PM and the service to begin at 2:30 PM at Riverside Funeral Home, 225 San Mateo NE, Albuquerque, New Mexico 87108. 505-764-9620
