Dorothy I. Koehler Obituary
Koehler, Dorothy I.

Dorothy Koehler passed away April 18th in the hands of her loving granddaughter Lynn Downey. Dorothy had an amazing life for over 102 years. Born in Oklahoma, she grew up working beside the men and developed into an independent, hard working, determined woman. She was at the forefront of equal rights for women, demanding equal pay in the fields, flying airplanes and driving farm equipment. Along with her husband of 77 years, Charles Koehler, they started their lives together with five dollars and built an incredibly successful farming business in Yellow Jacket, Colorado. After a severe illness she and Charles moved their family to Albuquerque where their hard work resulted in more successful businesses. They loved nothing more than their family and never lost their adventurous nature, traveling as often as possible.

Dorothy also experienced many heartbreaks in her years, mainly the passing of her incredible husband and their talented daughter, Pauline Emmel.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Leone and Bill Peters; her five granddaughters, Phyllis Sanchez, Lynn (Paddy) Downey, Debbie (Rick) Mercer, Carolyn (Talal) Mourad, Jeanette (Bill) Slichenmyer; and numerous great and great great grandchildren.

A private service to held at a later date.
