E. Frances Rogers Obituary
Rogers, E. Frances "Fran"

E. Frances "Fran" Rogers, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother passed away at Sierra Health Care Center on Tuesday, July 4, 2017. She was born to Charles and Eva Dick on May 31, 1922, in Brookfield, MO.

She married her husband Ray J. Rogers in Long Beach, CA, on May 9, 1947. Fran and her new husband moved later that year to Albuquerque, NM, where they raised two sons and a daughter. They resided there until retiring in Elephant Butte, NM, in 1985. Their 65 year marriage ended with Ray's death in October of 2012.

Fran enjoyed an active lifestyle and particularly enjoyed the game of golf. She was instrumental in establishing the Roadrunner Women's Golf Association in Elephant Butte in 1987. She won the ladies Club Championship one year at the T or C Municipal Golf Course and two years at the Oasis Golf Course in Elephant Butte. Fran and her husband Ray taught square dancing for twenty years while establishing and sponsoring both an adult and a teen square dance club in Albuquerque. They continued their interest and participation in square dancing after retirement in Elephant Butte. Fran was an accomplished boatswoman who enjoyed teaching her grandchildren to water ski during the annual "Grandma and Grandpa Days" at the lake. She learned to fly the family airplane and served as co-pilot during cross-country flights to visit children, grandchildren, and other relatives. Later in life, Fran remained active by playing bridge with friends at every opportunity. She was a long-time member of Church at the Butte where she participated in weekly services and served in the Care Ministry.

Fran was preceded in death by her loving husband Ray in 2012; her daughter, Linda Raye Widener in 2016; a grandson in 2009; her parents; seven sisters; and one brother. Family who remain will cherish her memory all the rest of their lives. Surviving children include Dr. Dwight "Dee" Rogers and wife, Annie Jo of Elephant Butte, NM, and Gary Dean Rogers and wife, Tess of Albuquerque; seven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be held on Friday, July 7, 2017, 11:00 a.m., at Chester T. French Memorial Mausoleum Chapel, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Please visit our online guestbook for Fran at
