Sager M.D., Edward Miller

Edward Miller Sager, Jr., M.D., husband, father, mentor, and friend passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, January 26, 2017. He is survived by his daughter, Susan Elizabeth Sager and partner, Kristine Riccardi of Portland, OR; his son, Edward M. Sager III and his wife, Lisa of Alexandria, VA; his son, Matthew W. Sager and his wife, Jennifer of Ramona, CA; and many other friends and family members. Also surviving is his Border Collie, Lola. He was preceded in death by his wife of almost 42 years, The Reverend Susan Ward Sager.

He was born in Honolulu, HI on April 8, 1939 and attended the University of Texas, graduating in 1965 from the school of medicine. While in school he met his future wife, Susan and they were married December 18, 1965 in Georgetown, DC. After three years of Air Force duty they both settled in Albuquerque where they raised a family. He enjoyed travel, working in his garden, his neighborhood friends, his children, and his dog. He and his wife were best of friends, very much in love and for the most part inseparable. For 11 years during the summer they journeyed to Honduras to a rural village with a group to furnish much needed medical care to the local population.

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2017, 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, 601 Montano Rd. NW.
