Eric Nash Walters Obituary
Walters, Eric Nash

Eric Nash Walters passed away peacefully the morning of July 12, 2016, surrounded by family. He was 48, and had courageously battled cancer for several years.

He is survived by his wife Andrea Fellows Walters; children Halen Clair and Albrecht Crowe Walters; parents Edward Albert and Susan Elaine Walters; his brother Gregory Edward Walters; sister Elaine Mee-Sun Walters; and four nieces.

In addition to family and friends, music meant the world to Eric. A graduate of the music programs of the University of New Mexico and Indiana University, and a co-founder of Chatter - Music Worth Talking About and a cellist with Santa Fe Symphony, among others, Eric was an accomplished composer, cellist and guitarist. Perhaps what brought him the most joy was teaching music. His years teaching orchestra at Sue Cleveland High School, Rio Rancho High School and Rio Rancho Middle School allowed him to share his love of music-making with others.

His broad smile and big laugh were known to all who encountered him, as was his gentle and caring nature.

A memorial service will be held at St. Luke Lutheran Church (9100 Menaul Blvd. NE) at 10:00am on Saturday, July 16. A reception will follow the service in the church's Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a contribution to Chatter - Music Worth Talking About or Animal Humane New Mexico in Eric's memory.
