Ethel Mae Merryman Obituary
Merryman, Ethel Mae

Ethel Mae Merryman nee Stone, April 2, 1944 - December 10, 2015. Ethel Mae died after a long, brave battle with cancer. She is survived by her daughter, Rashaun Merryman and partner, Tony Rivera; a son, Eric Merryman and wife, Jennifer; two sisters, Karen Payne and husband, Windell and Pansy Stone; three brothers, Tilford Stone, and wife, Tesa Chavez, Kenneth Stone and wife, Evangeline, Billy Wayne Stone, and wife, Diana; six grandchildren, Sara, Rebecca, Natalie, Manuel, Ceselia, and Alias, and two great-grandchildren Liam and Eric, Jr. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Ethel Mae was born in West Columbia, Texas. She lived the first nine years of her life in Texas and at one point her parents were share-croppers on a farm near Taylor, Texas. At the age of nine her family moved to Aztec, New Mexico, where, after several moves away and back again, she graduated from high school. She has lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico, for many years. She was an avid hiker, preferring to forge her own trail. She loved reading, talking with people, movies, good food, and spending time with her beloved grandchildren. She had limitless generosity: always ready to help anyone at a moment's notice, with childcare, providing a home for others, or just to talk.

A memorial service will be held on January 7, 2016 at the Unitarian/Universalist Church, 3701 Carlisle Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM, 87110, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
