Komninos, Eugene Constantine (Gene)

Eugene Constantine Komninos, "Gene", passed away peacefully at home on April 30, 2016, at the age of 80. He was born in Laconia, NH on August 3, 1935.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Marie; and their children, Phil Zapatero and wife Helen, Chuck Komninos, and daughter Cathy Moran and husband Tom. He also leaves his loving grandchildren, Robert Komninos, Carolyn Moran, and Kevin Moran. He is also survived by his sister Katherine Wilder.

He retired from the USAF where he served proudly for 27 years. He later worked for the US Department of Energy as a Senior Engineering Technologist. He was a leader for the Boy Scouts of America and later served as a volunteer with Laurelwood NA and the City of Albuquerque Parks & Rec. Dept. for over 14 years. He also served on the Albuquerque City Council as a District Representative on budget recommendations for the low income assistance programs. Gene will be greatly missed by his loving family and by those whose lives he touched.

A Mass will be held at 9:00 am at St Joseph on the Rio Grande, 5901 St Joseph's Ave., NW on May 11, 2016. Graveside services will be held at Santa Fe National Cemetery, 501 N Guadalupe St, Santa Fe at 2:15 pm, on Wednesday, May 11, 2016.
