Hanson, Evelyn M.

Evelyn M. Hanson of Albuquerque, NM and former 67 year resident of Tucson, AZ passed away on January 27, 2016 surrounded by her loving family.

Evelyn was born in Haver, Montana to Clara Vernig Benson and Charles Mark Benson in 1917; she grew up in Little Falls, MN and worked in Piers, MN before moving with her family to Tucson where her husband served in the Army Air Corps. After the war and for more than thirty years she supported her husband's career as a building contractor and land developer in Tucson and his leadership roles in numerous civic groups.

Evelyn was a loving wife and mother to five children. A gifted homemaker, avid golfer and bridge player, Evelyn belonged to the Oro Valley and Pine Top Country Clubs and was an active supporter of the Tucson Symphony. Evelyn's commitment and dedication to her family and friends was an inspiration to those who had the pleasure to know her. They will never forget her loving, caring and supportive ways. Evelyn will be remembered always as a true lady and amazing woman.

Evelyn was pre-deceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert E. Hanson, of 66 years and their eldest son, Robert C. Hanson; and brother, Roland Benson.

Evelyn is survived by her four children: Jane Weinzapfel, Sally Barron, R. Jeffrey Hanson and Candice Marsters;

four granddaughters Sabrina Stryker, Melissa Hanson King, Allison Hanson and Eve Weinzapfel; two great-grand daughters Isis Stryker and Cheyenne Pinkston: one great-great-granddaughter, A'niyah Taylor; and her two siblings Shirlee Gau Halpren and Robert Benson.

A private family memorial service will be held at Holy Hope Catholic Cemetery in Tucson, Arizona.
