Evelyn Ann York

Evelyn York passed away Sunday morning March 18th, 2018. Evelyn was born in Silver City, NM on December 3rd, 1928. She was preceded in death by her husband, K. Robert York; a son, Robert Stephen York; her parents, Charlie and Eva Williams; and her brothers, Charles, Clark and Don. Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Joyce and husband T.D. McCarson; her sons, Brad York and wife Loretta, and Richard York and wife Yolanda. She is also survived by five grandchildren and their spouses, Eric McCarson and Cheryl, Grant McCarson and Cheryl, Marshal York and Amy, Michelle Bell and Michael, and Adam York and Cathlin. Other survivors include 13 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren, plus one more on the way; also surviving are a sister-in-law and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins that were all dear to her heart.

Evelyn moved from Deming, NM to Albuquerque at an early age due to her father's job with the railroad. She attended Albuquerque High School and later took accounting courses at TVI. She was an industrious homemaker, church secretary, and put her accounting skills to work at a credit department for a major retailer. She was active in her church and in her community. Later in her retirement years she studied art, creating many beautiful oil paintings over a 20 year period. December of the year 2000, Evelyn was recognized for being a 50 year member of Bernalillo County Cooperative Extension Service division of New Mexico State University.

Evelyn was a loving wife and partner, married to Bob for 69 years. This marriage fostered a stable atmosphere and platform that allowed Evelyn to be an attentive mother, a moral and spiritual compass, a mentor and a great friend. She was a superb grandmother, always looking for ways to be a nurturing part of the lives of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed but her spirit will always be with us.

Evelyn's and Bob's cremains will be interred together at the gravesite for their son Robert Stephen York. A graveside service will be held at Sunset Memorial Park on Wednesday, April 11th at 2:00 pm. The gravesite can be found in the northwest quadrant of the cemetery located at Menaul and Edith.
