He was born in Albuquerque on June 3,1984 on the I25 Lomas off ramp to "Little Ralph" and Lorraine Sandoval Paiz. He was nicknamed Freeway Freddy by his father's musician friends due to the location of his birth.

Freddy was a third generation musician who played both the guitar and bass guitar. He was a fan of Buddy Holly from an early age. When he was in Kindergarten, he stood on the teacher's desk and sang "That'll Be the Day". Freddy had several passions in his life, but none greater that the love he had for his boys, Skyler, Christian, and Sagen.

Freddy was preceded in death by his mother, Lorraine Paiz.
