Genevieve Dillon Obituary
Dillon, Genevieve

Genevieve Dillon, 99, went on to be with the Lord on June 22, 2016, after living a rich and full life.

She leaves behind her loyal and loving brother, Gene Atchley; her adoring children, Jeneane D. Stevens, Jack R. Dillon, and Timothy C. Dillon; her beloved grandchildren, Robin Fritz, Robert Stevens, Scott Stevens, Justin Stevens, Jarrett Stevens, Chara Mock, Jack Patrick Dillon, Kerry Catherine Coke-Smyth, Carley Osborne, Kyle Dillon; several great-grandchildren; a rich extended family, and many close friends.

Born in Grenville, NM, the daughter of William T. Atchley, Etha B. Atchley, Gen was raised on the ranch and came to call Albuquerque home.

Gen was a celebrated Public School Teacher, serving over 30 years in Albuquerque Public Schools (Ernie Pyle Jr. High, Rio Grande High School, Eldorado High School).

Gen was a strong woman and in many ways, a pioneer. As the only daughter in a family of brothers, she quickly learned how to hold her own and make her way in the world. She and her late husband Jack Dillon brought three children into the world â€" Jeneane, Jack, and Tim. With loving strength, determination, and her faith in God as her guide, she taught them to be the strong people that they are today. They are the first fruit of her legacy and a living reminder of the incredible woman that she was.

Gen was beloved by all. As the matriarch of her family, she set the tone and pace for what a life well-lived looks like. She treated each and every member of her family as though they were her favorite and was lovingly referred to as "Our Gen".

Gen was the life of the party. She loved her Lobos and would make as many games as she could. She loved her sweet Katie Dog. She loved to dance…and loved a good margarita! She was the embodiment of Grit and Grace and taught us all what truly matters and how to live life well.

She is dancing in Heaven now…wearing a Leather Skirt…with a margarita in one hand…telling God what to do. And she is getting Heaven ready for the rest of us so that we can dance eternity away with her on streets paved with Gold.

A celebration of her life will be held Friday, August 5th at 2:00pm at Monte Vista Christian Church (3501 Campus Blvd. N.E.) with a reception to follow. All are welcome.
