Sandoval, Gloria

Gloria Sandoval, age 83, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend to so many, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 23, 2017.

She was a den mother to orphaned cub scouts; a kindergarten teacher to those precious ones' first experiences in school; she became a later-in-life RN at 40 with a BSN, who truly practiced the art of healing care and nursing, when she wept with, supported and nurtured families as she cared for their loved ones; she was a school nurse to thousands of elementary school children, providing services to students when a scrape needed bandaging or a family needed a home visit; and when retirement didn't suit her, she became a licensed massage therapist at age 56 with many certifications that told us she could treat pain fifty different ways to Sunday.

We remember her strength, her ability to be optimistic-even in the most dire of circumstances, her quick and robust sense of humor, and most of all, her love for life, family and friends.

She is survived by her loving husband Nestor; daughter Loretta; son Joe; grandsons Kelvin, Juan, Cruz and Steven; sisters Rosalie and Florence; her brother John; and numerous nieces, nephews and their families.

She joins her parents; her brother Joe; and sister Evangeline, and especially, John, Daniel and Mary Catherine, who preceded her in meeting our Lord, together again in life everlasting.

Rosary and funeral mass will be celebrated Friday, May 5th, 10:30 am at Risen Savior Catholic Community, 7701 Wyoming Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM.
