Hallie May Felsman, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend passed away peacefully at the age of 91 in Durham, North Carolina on December 28, 2015.

Hallie May was born in Bloomington, Illinois on April 5th, 1924 and raised there by her parents Homer and Francis Wegel. Hallie May graduated from Bloomington High School and studied fashion design at the Vogue School of Art in Chicago. She attended Illinois Wesleyan University and completed her Master of Fine Arts degree at the University of New Mexico. She married U.S. Naval Commander Jack Lee Felsman July 22, 1945. After his passing in 1961 she was an active member of the Gold Star Wives. Hallie May was a long time resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico and worked for many years as a real estate agent for P.F McCanna. She was an adventurous traveler and spent her later years with her son Kirk's family in South Africa. She was a passionate artist, painting until her last days, and a devoted gardener.

Hallie May was predeceased by her husband Jack Lee Felsman and sons Jackson Kirk Felsman and Mark Steven Felsman. She is survived by her daughter-in-law Irene Crabtree Felsman; grandchildren Caitlin May Felsman Pfitzer, Colin Lee Felsman, and Kai Hannon Felsman; and sister Ruth Alvis.

A memorial service and interment will be planned for Spring 2016 at the Rock Island National Cemetery in Illinois. Memorial donations may be made to the J. Kirk Felsman Program on Children in Adversity, c/o Duke University, Box 90242, Durham, NC 27708-0242.
