Hans Egenes Obituary
Egenes, Hans

Hans Egenes, 83 beloved father and grandfather passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2016. He was born in Flekkefjord, Norway on November 11, 1932. He became a Norwegian Merchant Seaman at the age of 15. He immigrated to the United States when he was 20 and was drafted into the United States Army. He was stationed in Germany and met the love of his life, Flora Poullie. They were married in 1955.

After being discharged from the US Army, Hans spent most of his adult life working in the construction industry, most of that time spent as a home-builder in Albuquerque. He leaves behind and was very proud of the homes (several hundred) that he built in the Albuquerque area. He also developed many lifetime friendships with suppliers and subcontractors and always tried to treat everyone the way he wanted to be treated. His friends in the business community will miss the "hard-time" he would give them.

He is survived by two sons, Hans W (wife Cynthia) and Eric. He has two grandchildren, Hans Nicklaus and Kristen, and an adopted grandson, Ben Gallegos (wife Laura) and their two sons. He was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters, and is survived by one sister, Sally Gilje (husband Bjorn), and a special nephew/adopted son Terje Egenes (wife Betty) all living in Norway. Survivors also include a sister-in-law, Borghild Egenes and her son, Steven Egenes, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, most living in Norway.

He is also survived by special friends Judy, Michael, Lori and their children; Heinz, Doris, Hannah and Jean.

Cremation has taken place and a burial will be on Friday, November 11, 2016 in Santa Fe. In lieu of flowers you may donate to the Animal Humane Society or Paws & Stripes. He loved animals.
