Moss, Harriett

Harriett Moss, beloved and loving wife of Roy and mother of David (Andrea Lerner), Jules (Serra), and Benjamin (Judy Prince); daughter of Max and Beatrice Finkelstein; sister of Muriel Fox and Roslyn Wolk, died at Solano House on June 17, 2017. She was 92.

Born 1924, Penn State graduate 1945, married 1947, moved to Rio Rancho 1980, shared and celebrated 62 years of marriage until Roy's death 2009. Until she was 45, Harriett suffered from manic-depression, wondering if she'd ever have "a normal life". She did! And was eager to share that lithium helped, hoping her story might help others. With social work skills, she volunteered in regional social/school programs and at the Peace Center. At Carrie Tingley Hospital she initiated an on-site children's playspace. Harriett was a "people person", loved kids, and listened to/counseled anyone in need. Believing that peace might be achieved in our lifetime, she supported Amnesty International and Save the Children.

She leaves her extended family: dear brother-in-law Jay Moss (Sabina) and nephew Jordan Moss, many nieces and nephews.

The family thanks her dedicated caregivers: Angela Walker (ESCM) and Barbara; Cathy Thompson and all at Solano; PACE; and especially Dr. Sara Mills and Heather Rivera. Harriett will be remembered as a loving spirit whose smile lit up the room.

The funeral service was private. Donations, if desired: Abq. Center for Peace & Justice or ACLU.
