1925-2017



Herman Kaneshiro, a resident of Belen, NM, passed away at his home in Belen on Tuesday, September 5, 2017. He was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church where he served as an usher for 20 plus years. Herman proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII with the Occupying Forces in Germany. He retired from the Sandia National Laboratory with 25 years of outstanding service. Herman was a Charter Member of the Belen Moose Lodge. He served as Governor, secretary and manager for several years. Herman achieved the rank of Pilgrim which is the highest rank given by the Moose International. He was an avid bowler and played in many leagues throughout the valley. Herman was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, brother and friend. His family meant everything to him. He will be truly missed including being missed by his faithful companion, his dog, Wilfred who was with Herman everywhere he went.

Herman is preceded in death by his wife, Christina Baca Kaneshiro; grandson, Kevin Kaneshiro; parents, Frank and Maria Baca Kaneshiro; and brother, Felix. He is survived by his two sons, Herman and wife, Debby and Robert and wife, Marilyn; eight loving grandchildren, Kolby Kaneshiro, Kristy Kaneshiro (Marty Cordova), Kendra Kaneshiro, Trebor Kaneshiro, Karly (Tony Aragon), Juan Sanchez, Thomas Kaneshiro and Vicky Romero; and sixteen great-grandchildren; brother, Harry; sister in-law, Emma Baca; brother in-law, Frank Chavez.

All services will be held at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church in Belen. A Viewing will begin at 5:00 p.m., with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m., on Thursday, September 7, 2017. A Final Viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m., with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, September 8, 2017. Interment will take place at Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens following mass. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Kolby, Trebor, Thomas and Becente Kaneshiro, Juan Sanchez and Filomeno Fliss. Honorary pallbearers will be his great grandchildren.
